Anna Shin Portrait

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist (RMFT) with the Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy/American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

A registered psychotherapist (RP) is someone who has gone through vigorous training in education, supervision, and clinical experience in the area of psychotherapy (visit www.crpo.ca). A Registered Marriage and Family Therapist (RMFT) is someone who has met and exceeded the standard of an RP in Ontario. RMFTs are mental health professionals and relationship specialists who work collaboratively with individuals, couples, and families to resolve mental health, behavioural, and relationship concerns (visit: www.oamft.com and www.aamft.org)

I have a Master’s degree in counselling and am a Clinical Member of the OAMFT and AAMFT. I have experience counselling ethnically diverse clientele at Catholic Family Services of Peel, Dufferin from 2007 to 2012. I started my private practice in 2012 and have continued to augment my knowledge and skills by attending numerous training seminars as part of my continuing education.

Some more info about Anna

Before embarking on my academic training in counselling, I worked in the financial sector in South Korea. I am grateful to have had the privilege of meeting many interesting people and learned a lot about the corporate world. Upon immigrating to Canada in 2003, I made the decision to change careers and I am so glad I did. I feel my varied life experiences, both personally and professionally, add to my presence as a psychotherapist. The difficulties, struggles, and losses that I have had to come to terms with in my personal life have taught me humility, empathy, compassion, and understanding. They have stoked my desire to be of service and offer support to others who are going through difficult periods in their own lives.
